Our Collaborations

The PHICOR team works closely with a wide range of decision makers and has been part of several large-scale consortia over the past two decades, the majority of which are still ongoing today. This collaboration allows PHICOR to bridge the gap between research, education, policy, and action. PHICOR believes that our collaborators can encourage support for applying a systems approach in health from the local community to the international level. Below are some examples.

  • The Nutrition for Precision Health (NPH) Consortium

Funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and powered by the All of Us Research Program, the NPH Consortium consists of 14 clinics and Centers across the US. Collectively, the NPH Consortium's mission is to develop algorithms that predict individual responses to nutrition. The PHICOR team, United States Military Academy at West Point, Stevens Institute of Technology and University of Southern California leads the AIMINGS (Artificial Intelligence, Modeling, and Informatics for Nutrition Guidance and Systems) Center which serves as the AI Center for the NPH Consortium. PHICOR and its AIMINGS Center will develop state-of-the-art AI, machine learning (ML), Big Data methods, and other data science approaches to better understand and improve diet and nutrition.

  • IMAG (Interagency Modeling and Analysis Group) and the MSM (Multi-scale Modeling Consortium)

Led by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), NIH and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), IMAG is a modeling and analysis of biomedical, biological and behavioral systems group. The MSM Consortium is a community of researchers participating in activities and research projects focused on or related to multiscale modeling of biomedical, biological and behavioral systems. PHICOR has been a leading member of both IMAG and MSM since 2016.

  • MIDAS (Models of Infectious Disease Agent Study) Network

Led by scientists and practitioners, MIDAS is a global network that develops and utilizes various types of models (computational, statistical, mathematical) to improve the understanding of infectious disease dynamics. PHICOR has been part of the MIDAS Network since 2007.

  • Project Play

The Aspen Institute’s Sports & Society Program’s Project Play is a consortium of businesses, federal agencies, foundations, major sports leagues and associations and researchers that work to identify gaps in access and quality in sports for young people and empower leading organizations to fill them. As founding members, PHICOR’s VPOP models were utilized to better understand the impact of increasing youth sport participation. The model’s results are used to show stakeholders the benefits of more youth meeting the CDC’s physical activity guidelines.

  • SPACES

Created by the US Global Development Lab at USAID in efforts to improve decision making and enhance program interventions, SPACES is a consortium that consists of four key players: PHICOR, LINC, Global Knowledge Initiative (GKI) and ResilientAfrica Network (RAN). The consortium works together to bring systems approaches, methods, and tools to international development.

Collaborators

PHICOR works closely with a wide range of decision makers. From academic institutions to governmental organizations to product developers to policymakers in the US and across the world, we believe that our collaborators can encourage support for applying a systems approach in health from the local community to the international level.
